This is the official review of the new Windows Phone, the Nokia Lumia 1020. For those of you who do not know me, or don't keep up with my thread, I'm really into photography, and have been for some time now. A few years ago I wanted to take my photography to a more professional level, so I bought a red Nikon D3100 24 megapixel DSLR. It was an amazing starter camera for myself and since then I have bought several lenses to go along with it.
When the Lumia was first introduced to the public, I had my doubts. How could any phone come with a 41 megapixel camera?! Is that even possible? So I went on thinking that the photos they say it takes aren't really that good. It's only a phone after all. A few weeks went by and my lady at AT&T called me and told me I was eligible for an upgrade. So I went into the store to do some browsing. And from the moment I walked in I was drawn to the Lumia. Curiosity go the best of me. But there was one thing that held me back at first; The Nokia Lumia is a Windows phone... I have a Mac, and have always had a passionate hatred towards Windows. And I'm also a big music guy, so how was I going to get all of my music from iTunes onto a Windows phone? After much thought I told myself I can always go out and buy an iPod if it wont transfer my music.
With a newly purchased Lumia I felt like a kid on Christmas day. The live tiles took some getting used to, as I come from a long line of iPhone usage. But I haven't looked back once. All of my music transferred and the live tiles are a cool new experience. When it came to the camera, I had very high expectations. And not only did it impress me, it blew my mind! It's low-light capabilities were impressive and the sharpness of each photo became better than the last.
If I were to take two identical photos, one with the Lumia, and one with my Nikon, The Lumia would win every time. The quality of photo it takes right out of the gate far exceeds the quality of a full blown DSLR. Now of course, the DSLR's have interchangeable lenses to give you different views that the Lumia cannot offer. But the zoom that the Nokia offers allows you to go way into the photo without pixelating the image.
I recommend this phone to any new aspiring photographer, or to anyone who just wants to have superior photos. The Nokia Lumia 1020 has completely reinvented the "point and shoot" camera. I sense this will be the end of Kodak and Sony.
So if you're looking for a new phone that will give you that amazing "selfie," just remember the Nokia Lumia 1020, and take photos like a porn star.
