State Sen. Tea Party Republican Donna Campbell (Texas) filed a proposed Constitutional Amendment Monday that could allow business owners and government contractors to turn away gay people or fire LGBT employees under the guise of religious liberty She wants to enshrine a "license to discriminate" against LGBT people into the state constitution. I always thought we should give Texas back to Mexico from whom we stole it very recently, as history goes.

Note to Ms Campbell: You have always had religious liberty, and still do. The Mayflower Compact sealed that deal. The whole reason the "Pilgrims" risked their lives to get here was for religious liberty from the King. They wanted freedom to worship as they chose. You have that Ms. Campbell. Put your hate away for another day.

I realize there are several other states attempting this. Should we get a state for us? lol which one?

Texas: The Hate State (unfortunately, it's not alone). Read your Bible and find the part, any part that allows you to do something hateful but feel good about yourself. People like her and the other loonies in Congress that come up with these ridiculous ideas are the American Taliban. Thank God their not effective enough to get much done... for now.

I'm sooooooo glad I live in Washington state in a Seattle suburb. All that religious crap never comes up. Most city people (Eastern Washington is a different story, but they don't have the population to make much difference in the vote counts) use their REASONING to make their political decisions. Seattle has the lowest church attendance of any major city in the US. Just sayin'.....
