I agree with you Slim. If I understand what you are saying then these forums are pretty boring and mundane for the most part. Thats why I don't post much. I just kind of follow what everybody else is doing so as not to rock the boat since there is all this talk in a lot of posts about people being "banned" in the past for being controversial. Not exactly a free speech forum. It would be nice if there were some fireworks once in a while and it got a little rowdy. That is what attracts people. After all, this is an adult porn site, not kindergarden or sunday school.
Logan, here's what I think. The venue where people with strongly held ideas on controversial subjects, where socially subversive laughter made the nastiness really really fun, where enemies were created and then re-morphed into terrific friends during lengthy debate, where creativity was gleamingly evident in a lot of the posts, where useful ideas were offered up and silently adopted by management (other people had much better ones that I, but my list starts with the auctions, in a post to David years ago, then the 10 Random when I asked Scorpio, whom I find achingly hot, to tell us more about himself, going on through some of the nomenclature that a lot of us use, like: forumite, futonite, brokie and straightie...btw management has even picked up "straightie" and set up a website with it:
www.straightie.com. Man, talk about flattered)...that venue, that forum, is long gone.
Moreover, since it had become the arena where forumite and management occasionally found themselves in disagreement, and where familiarity had bred a lot of familiarity, and where management had begun to suffer huge headaches from some of the rowdiness that you and I doted on, I really believe that this place is going to stay how it is now. I think it suits too many people for it ever to go back to that hotbed of intellectual pursuit and creative vigor that it once was. Things change, and who's to say a Sarah Palin forum for a gay, chickenhawk, coercive-fetish porn-site isn't just what the times require? I expect you to answer me with an even longer post with even fewer sentences in it.
... btw i didnt realize we were the same age. I started to think that jon just says things to get people going. I fell hook line and sinker. He is growing on me though
