I have always enjoyed doing the BTS over the years. We certainly had some good ones. We still do have many moments that could be captured. I believe that we addressed this before. When we film, we film for a week at a time. Our staffing certainly isn't what it used to be so this means that we have our hands full just getting the scenes filmed and working with the models. This leaves very little time for the BTS. The pictures that you all are referring to shot because we try to at least get out of the studio to do some appealing photo shoots. While we were taking those pictures, a huge storm hit so it was a very quick shoot.
Hi Sha,
I really feel for you. The latest few times you offered us BTS vids of the guys in the house, they didn't go over very well. I know you were disappointed by the reception of some of them. Among other things I guess it was partly because the sound quality from the mics used just couldn't pick up the conversations very well. If you can't hear what each person is saying then it's wasting all of your and our time. Other times the snippets of interaction among the models were just not that interesting to watch as a spectator. That said, I hope you guys won't give up on out-of-studio BTS scenes forever. I sympathize with and fully understand that the budgets of 2008 to about 2011 or so, are no longer there. Just like so many other companies and employees you're being asked to do the same (and more) with fewer staff and resources.
All of that makes it all the more important that if time and resources are put into a BTS video that they be set up with the best chance of success. Such things as, good audio pickup from within the room...and my own peeve that I'm sure I share with a few others in here ...cell phones put away. When we are invited to get a look inside the
Broke Straight Boys house and have a vicarious video visit with favorite models when they are off set, we...as good and respectful guests...are grateful for the invitation. Keeping in mind of course that we are at least
paying guests. Not someone who shows up at your door taking all your hospitality for granted, and looking for something for nothing. lol
The models may not realize it or see it as such...but when the camera comes in [in my mind at least] they are entertaining invited company. Therefore they are being very rude to their guests...as well as the very people who actually pay their checks...if they insist on burying their noses in their cell phones during the visit. To me it's a passive-aggressive way of giving your guest the finger. I know that some models may silently be thinking to themselves something along the lines of, "Hey. I've put in a long day of filming. I'm tired. That's what I get paid for. Not this. This is my time to either unwind or blow off steam. I'm not getting paid extra for this. So why should I have to put on a smile, put away my cell phone, and maybe go a little bit out of my way to make conversation with the people around me?"
If ever the site had someone with the silent authority behind his voice, the eloquence with words and the remarkable ability to read each person's verbal, non-verbal and social cues...and reach them at whatever level/place they're at at any given moment...it's you Sha. Through pep talking them and without being condescending or threatening to them at all, you definitely have the ability to get models on board with doing things like a really fun and successful BTS vid.
The arguments in favor of doing a good BTS vid for the models and site alike are many. It's one more very good way for models to build up a fan base. If they build up a greater fan base, their ratings are much more likely to stay higher. If their mindset is money...then there's this: The higher their ratings, the much more likely they are to be offered more scenes/work (and more $$) in the future. So while they may not see extra cash for doing the BTS itself, it does represent the opportunity for more cash in the future that wouldn't be there otherwise. The more fans they get, the more followers they get on social media. The more hits and followers on social media creates a herd mentality of interest and starts expanding exponentially. That's more people willing to flock to
Broke Straight Boys to see what all the fuss is about with this model, as well as more people to donate to models' Amazon wish lists, birthday gifts and so on.
If they are coming from a place of low self esteem and a very tough backstory to their lives, they may be very pleasantly shocked by all the positive and very sincere words of praise and various feedback they get. It could truly help them go forward in life with more confidence and happiness.
Building a vicarious rapport between the
Broke Straight Boys model and the members is what has made the site so unique all along. The BTS vids have served that role well in the past in creating a bond between the model and fan that sites non-reality sites can't and don't offer as part of the membership experience. My heart ached for Dakota when he talked about his 8 month tour of combat duty in Iraq in the Marines and losing brothers-in-arms. The difficulties of his family life, and so on. Dakota will always be far far more to me than just a handsome random model with a big dick. I truly feel a platonic love for him from one human being to another. That would not have happened without his BTS vids.
While I hear you hinting Sha that there may not be more BTS vids to come other than the standard introductory videos we have now...I hope you're only saying that they will only be fewer and farther between. If it is the former, then I would say that is a terrible shame and I'll miss them. If it's the latter, then I hope you will take at least some of my ideas above into consideration, along with other great ideas of your own of course.
