Happy Thanksgiving from across the pond. Guess you'll all be running around trying to catch the turkey ready to put him in the oven for a great dinner. Although it does not affect us Brits, I like it when thanksgiving comes around because it means that Christmas is just around the corner. Enjoy your holidays.

I also wish a very Happy Thanksgiving to all forumites all over the world, even though it is only a holiday here, but I am sure thankful to have found my way to this microcosm of society known as "the forum". I have made so many really important friends here, 99% of whom I've never met in person, but who are still so very important to me.

:athxg::bthxg::0thxg:

And it is the one time of the year that I get to use these "smilies" at the bottom of the list!

In Australia we don't have a Thanksgiving day, but if it means a time when you acknowledge all the things you're grateful for then my list would be long, very badly punctuated and possibly illegible in places, but long ...

For the very first time in my life I can say Happy Thanksgiving

Btw...Very cool smilies, Mike!

I echo your sentiments completey Mikey. :)

I too want to wish a Happy Thanksgiving to all those here on the forum. Including of course those who read but don't post. haha Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays because it is the least commercialized of them all. It's about giving thanks and showing gratitude for all we have been given in life. And not just in the material things. That includes of course all of our family plus all of our amazing friends and acquaintances who we could scarcely imagine life without. Then of course we eat a whole bunch of wonderful dishes that people will scarcely ever make...because they are time consuming, expensive or just considered a treat for "special occasions"...like today. :)

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!!

Happy Thanksgiving All

Thanksgiving is a day of remembrance of the many special things received or shared with others in our own country. Having gone through such a divisive year because of the President's re-election makes me extremely grateful that we live in such a great country. That prospects of routine regime change does not require bloodshed for power to pass on to the next duly elected president, as it would in many less peaceful societies in our World today. The world still has many tyrants such as exists in Syria today.

Today we all should reflect how much different life would be if we were so unfortunate to live under Syria's current conditions through no fault of our own.

ALSO, BEST WISHES FOR A :xmaschristmas: TO ALL!

Well,

I should like to hope that all my American friends on this site, have enjoyed a very happy Thanksgiving, in the arms of family, and friends. Thanksgiving has taken on far greater proportions, in the United States, than it ever has in Canada (and is celebrated rather later, no doubt because the frost comes here, earlier) ~ and it IS just POSSIBLE that the Canadian celebration (though rather more modest) preceded the American one, by a number of years: http://www.torontosun.com/life/2010/10/05/15591816.html

Still, the basic IDEA is the same, and I (for one) give GREAT THANKS for all the friends I have encountered, here - whatever the time of year! This is a good time of year - as it is ALWAYS good, whatever one's 'theological' cast of mind - to express gratitude for family and friends; the succour of one's livelihood; and the happiness bestowed by good health, and hope.

Happy Thanksgiving to ALL my American friends, and - God bless us, every one. And, if that sentiment is beyond the pale ~ then, let us all simply BLESS ONE ANOTHER.

"A" XOXOXOXOXOXO

Thank you Ambi!

On certain subjects you don't live up to your nickname. Many, actually. haha Or is it that very contradiction that's the whole point?

Just finished the rest of my leftover turkey. Made enchilada's yum yum!! Hope everyone had a great long weekend with family and friends. I had bought a 20 lb turkey for my 12 guests that were coming for dinner, then my niece informed me wednesday morning that she, her husband, their 5 kids and her sister in law were all coming for dinner also. So I ran to safeway and they had a 15 lb already thawed. So I cooked 2 birds this year and everything turned out fine.
