Well, I'll tell you what I did since you asked so nicely.
We make a float for the neighborhood parade every year. This year's theme was We <3 Colorado Firefighters. So, we made a big, red firetruck. About 8 families came over on the 3rd to do the building and painting. We ordered pizza and had lots of gin and tonic and beer for everyone. The float is one of the best yet. We have been participating for about 9 years.
July 4, parade at 9:30. Real Firetruck in the lead followed by our float, some classic cars and hundreds of kids on their decorated bikes. The whole neighborhood gathered at the pool after for a party. There were games for the kids and adults, a BBQ and a DJ. We sat around drinking bloody marys and other delicious cocktails, enjoying the sun and catching up with neighbors. I participated in one of the relays swimming the butterfly leg for our team. When the pool closed at 5, we went home, cleaned up, I picked a salad from my garden and we went to our good friend's house for another BBQ, some wine and a casual evening. It was a great day!
