I was going for funny here, and don't think I succeeded. So forgive me my silliness....

"Lance" went on a camping trip with his girlfriend and needed a house sitter for his ailing Mastiff, Rex, who has hip problems and can't navigate mountainous terrain any longer. He asked his best friend, "Curtis" to take care of Rex. While Lance is away, Curtis finds a jar of pickles in the fridge and proceeds to eat the whole jar while catching up on past episodes of "Deadliest Catch." Now, being the generally considerate guy that Curtis is, he leaves a note on the counter letting Lance know that he's happy to replace the pickles if Lance will just tell him where he can get them. He even goes so far as to mention how delicious he found the pickles, which is why he couldn't stop eating them. When Lance returns and finds the empty jar and note, he is devastated. His grandmother, who had helped raise Lance and had recently died, had made those pickles for him for his 22nd birthday, and it was the very last jar, irreplaceable and sentimental. Not knowing how to make up for such a faux pas, Curtis offers a monetary settlement. However, he has recently lost his job working in the plumbing department of the local hardware store. Curtis decides, after seeing an ad on his favorite porn site for Broke Straight Boys, that futon time would be a great way to earn the money, and having his best friend Lance there with him would be a huge relief. I'm more for the "burn, rape and pillage" approach to recruiting. "If you don't convert, then die." The only problem is selling this approach to those who are recruited for Broke Straight Boys scenes. Example: Monastery attacked by Vikings during the night while the monks are asleep. Older monks killed outright. The younger tender ones stripped and ravished by numerous Vikings over a very long period of time.
