Gas prices

Rumors are prices are going to start going back up according to AAA. I got 3/4 of a tank in my 1500 Chevy truck for $25.00 yesterday.

I wonder what prices are in the UK, now that Jon has a new car.

Good news on the car front, I pick it up this afternoon - I took 1/2 day off work for it. It's a blue BMW diesel but at the moment diesel is £1.23 a litre so I'm fairly happy. But not as happy as you gas guzzling yanks ha ha

Hey,

I'm glad that gas prices went down. And I'm glad that Jon got a new car. And I know we need to save the planet. (Hey, I take the bus, almost always - and I haven't boarded an aircraft in about a decade. My carbon footprint is pretty small.)

But I am 6' 2", and I hate teensy little European and Japanese cars. Hate on me all you want, but I pine for (and am still nostalgic for) the days when my friend "Fat Dave" used to pick me up on the way to university classes (he'd buy me a pizza, after, if I'd brief him so he could look smart in class) in his big, long, 1979 Lincoln Continental, and I could stretch out my FULL FRAME in the front seat, whilst luxuriating upon a pillowed leather seat.

It was the BIGGEST, LONGEST, WIDEST, HEAVIEST, production automobile EVER built, and the pinnacle of excess: but. . . THAT WAS A F***ING CAR. It was. . . a very pleasant RIDE ;-)

P.S.

Just for laughs, for Jon - this is the car I actually first took to uni. It was a 1974 Ford Custom 500, the very cheapest base model of the Ford LTD, which was oft-seen, in later years, as the standard "cop-car" on "Hawai'i Five-O". (And WAS used, for years, by many police departments, in North America.)

Its suspension was softer than an average sofa, but it had a HUGE, POWERFUL, 400 cubic-inch V-8 engine, and that thing would slingshot past five semi-trailers, in about five-and-a-half SECONDS. You could beat ANYTHING on the ROAD in that bugger - - - as long as you didn't have to turn a corner, too fast ;-)

Nostalgically yours,
"A" XOXOXOXOXOXO

This is an example of the car I picked up today. Same colour, same mode - BMW 330 automatic touring. BTW I lease it via work, I'm not rich enough to buy it.

Hey,

That's a nice car, Jon! Looks roomy and pleasant to drive - and the quality of the BMW is well-known. My friend Dr. F. from Paris always drives them, and they are very nice. As long as it gets you where you need to go, and safely, too - that's the main thing.

"A" XOXOXOXO :-)

Yes, I carry a lot of tools and luggage for work and when I come home there is plenty of room in the back to put the dogs in.

Gas back home in Texas is $2.59 today according to my uncle. No-lead here is $3.67 today. Had to fill the jeep this morning but it was Rick's turn to pay!!
