Hey Louis,

I know you are having a tough time at present however, I'd like to send you this clip that I came across by accident. How and why i came across it, I do not know. Maybe it's fate or coincidence but WTF. Think you should listen to the words as maybe we should all.

Lyrics below

Please lay down your pistols and your rifles
Please lay down your colors and your creeds
Please lay down your thoughts of being no one
Concentrate on what you ought to be
Then lay down your bullshit and your protests
Then lay down your governments of greed
Take a look at what lies all around you
Then pray God we can live in peace
Everyone's a loner 'till he needs a helping hand
Everyone is everybody else
Everyone's a no one 'till he wants to make a stand
God alone knows how we will survive
So please lay down your pistols and your rifles
Please lay down your colors and your creeds
Please lay down your thoughts of being no one
Concentrate on what you ought to be
Everyone's a loner 'till he needs a helping hand
Everyone is everybody else
Everyone's a no one 'till he wants to make a stand
God alone knows how we will survive

Songwriters
LENNON, JOHN WINSTON / MCCARTNEY, PAUL JAMES

Well Louis, times may be hard, but at least you have us...okay, that may not give you comfort, but I'm sure it will give you a laugh! Love ya!:001_wub:

Thank you, Jon. This was very powerful. I saw you had posted this when I first logged on this morning. However, I was not ready to get into it at 3:30 in the morning. The message of this song can be applied to every generation alive today, be it a country, civilization or even an individual. A devastation can be caused by a multitude of people down to a single person. It only takes one.

9/11 not only destroyed the lives of individuals, but also their families and friends. The affects of that day were felt throughout the world. My son disrupted the harmony of my family unit. While that incident was not catastrophic on a larger scale, it was catastrophic to our own personal lives.

It only takes one person. I see this song was co-written by John Lennon. It only took one man to bring this musical genius down and also the people who loved him globally. The events of the attack on 9/11 interrupted every major television station. When John Lennon was killed, the ABC network interrupted their telecasting of the Monday Night Football to announce John's assassination as did other television stations.

It only takes one!

Again, I thank you, Jon, for sharing this with us.

I think google got it wrong and are confused with the Beatles song of the same title.

Song was written by guitarist John Lees, who was or may still be a teacher in Oldham, which is near Manchester, England.

[h=2]For No One[/h]A classic anti-war song brings us neatly back to the opening theme of the album. The live version, as captured on Barclay James Harvest Live from later that same year, was even more powerful, with a big build up to the exquisite ending which is, unfortunately, missing from the studio version. Still, a great way to end a fine album, which has a very special place in many fans' affections.[h=5]Lyrics:[/h]Please lay down your pistols and your rifles

The best songs are those with very strong and meaningful lyrics, accompanied by music which makes your hair stand on end. This is such a song.

I agree with you here 100% those such songs can stir all sorts of emotions and bring back all kinds of memories. Dan x

Thanks for straightening that out Jon, as when you first posted the lyrics and mentioned Lennon & McCartney, I scratched my head, as I thought I would have known of this powerful song.
