Hey. Not very surprising that this years X Factor's boyband Union J has a gay lad in it. I'm sure it's got something to do with their mentor Louis Walsh.. Read on.

My eldest granddaughter is into New Direction (I never heard of it until the Olympics and she went all gaga over the boys); and since then I've paid more attention to news about them and have read rumors about of of them being gay; but all have denied it. The band is called One Direction or 1 Direction as they like to be marketed. They are a manufactured band from Simon Cowell's stable of X Factor. In fact, on that particular X Factor series they were all failed soloists, but Simon threw them together as a band. They didn't win the comp but came close. Now they are the biggest boyband in the world and have conquered the States like no other Brits have done since the Beatles.

Are any of them gay ? Well the gay world would like to think so and, as you said, they do appear to be cute. Most of the successful boybands have a gay member in them - Westlife, Boyzone to name a few. I'm not sure about 1D though - we will have to see if anyone comes out...

The persistent whisperings about whether a member or members of 1D are gay seems a bit like a marketing ploy to cynical ol me. Is it hip or cool in the millennium to have a gay band mate and be okay with it? Or, on the other hand, is any rumor, gay or otherwise good publicity for a new band? Who knows, but it does add an extra layer of interest, which potentially means more money...

I would agree with that assessment if the band were brand new, but they are not and as I said before, probably the biggest boyband in the world at this moment. These popstars or anyone in the public limelight will have no private lives from now on, so if you're gay then come out, if you don't then it will be worse when you get found out. We are in the 2000s now not the 1980s so I dont see the big deal.

Saying this of course, none of 1D may be gay at all. LOL

I don't care whether they're gay or not but a band that competed on X factor 2010 and released their first album in 2011 sounds pretty new to me....must be showing my age

Yes, Zayn is very sexy AND HE'S A SMOKER. In
fact, if you GOOGLE-IMAGE him under his name
and SMOKING you'll find lots of pics showing
his sexy way of smoking. He's also uber-hot
with a cigarette tucked behind his ear--in the
style of James Dean (another bottom, I believe).

I saw 1 Direction on The Insider or some such show yesterday and they each were holding their doll or is it action figure? They were kind of playing with them and one of the boys had his doll bent over at the waist like it was expecting to get fucked. It just looked kind of gay to me but maybe he was just checking to see if they got the butt right.

These guys are the hottest boyband in the world right now. So any suggestion that one may be gay will soon escalate. Most of the brit boybands do have a gay in their lineup because it helps them fill the gay clubs in london - more PR. Not so sure about 1D though.
