Ethnic Diversity on BSB

Over the years that I've been a member here, there have been some members on the forum who've complained that there are too few non-white models appearing. I see that in the "coming soon" scenes we have two upcoming scenes, one featuring Chaz Berling with David Hardy and the other is a BTS with LJ Richards.

We recently had a thread dealing with racism in gay porn and I am interested to see how well these two newbies will be received by the audience here, as indeed Broke Straight Boys has had a preponderance of Caucasian models in the past. Both of these guys appear to be hot with nice bodies and I am curious to see how they do in their scenes and how popular they will prove to be on the site.

The problem, in my opinion, seems to stem from many things.

One being studios not hiring models who are not caucasian, be they black, asian or to some extent latino. In some cases that may stem from a lack of racially diverse models to choose from, you can only hire those who apply; in too many cases however this likely stems from racial bias and personal taste. It's also likely that as in all of the entertainment industries, ie: music, movies, tv, porn, there are a few people making decisions based on what they think we want to see. A perfect example of this being last year's Oscars where not a single black actor or actress was nominated despite the excellent work done by so many.

It's my perception that in most cases when hired, non-white models do as well as their white counterparts. Kaden Alexander is a much-loved example, people are excited he is back. Devon Felix was well liked and has gone out and continued his growth and success with other studios.

It's to Broke Straight Boys's credit that they are one of a small handful of studios who get it right most of the time. They treat their models well, they give their audience what they want to see and they are actively working towards diversifying the models they bring to us.

It's so nice to subscribe to a studio that provides its members with an active forum and that for the majority of the time discussions take place on a mature and accepting level.

As I said, this is only my opinion, I look forward to hearing what others have to say.

sammigirl413 I applaud you for your excellent post. I would agree with you on everything except the issue on the Oscars ( but that is neither here or there for me). I think Broke Straight Boys does a good job on having a diverse set of models. On other Latino sites they obviously have plenty of models as I am a fan of several sites. Likewise on Asian sites. For myself I have particular tastes and bias and watch scenes as they appeal to me and have my favorite models. Other members have their favorites and bias as to looks, age, body type, ethnicity, and other general traits. So Kudos to,Broke Straight Boys for bringing on models that are appreciated by the membership.

I was surprised to learn that LJ Richards is no newbie as he has appeared in several scenes on our bonus site College Boy Physicals He may not be new to porn but he is a hot guy!!!!

I am not sure what is meant by this, but Lj has a BTS that comes out Saturday and as you will see, he was introduced appropriately. I don't make the guys say anything that they don't want to. The funny thing is when it comes to talking we are completely off script. Maybe that is why some get on to me about me being long winded sometimes. College Boy Physicals is one of our sites and Lj did a great job there and we hope that he even has more success on Broke Straight Boys

I agree that it is a different Broke Straight Boys Times have certainly changed in the industry and we do our ultimate best to produce a great product with each and every scene. The availability of models is certainly different than when I started 20 years ago. Even our regular guys on here also have school and work that we have to try and schedule around. We are more diverse than what we have ever been and our quality of the production of our content is at the best that it has ever been. Although it is impossible to please each and every one with all the scenes that we produce, I feel that we seem to be giving our members a larger variety of content and based on our statistics, we seem to be hitting the mark more often than not.
