I don't know how many baseball fans are on this forum, but for anyone who ever watched him play, they have seen one of the all time greats to have ever played the game, and I am proud that as a New York Yankee fan, I've witnessed the entire career of a future hall of famer, Derek Jeter, who always was a class individual who played the game with dignity and at the highest level.

While I was never a Yankees fan, as they always seem to purchase the best team money can buy but fail when it is time to perform, I cannot deny Derek Jeter is a man of professional style and elan. He seemed to take center-stage, but never once demanded it. Definitely earned his spot in Cooperstown, Jeter is a clutch player. His was to play the game the way it should be played, and not spend idle time moaning about an injury or pissing over a teammate's flaws. I would like to hope someday there shall be a plaque out in the center field mezzanine honouring this Star of Stars! People can hate him, call him names, whatever they choose, but no one can take away from his incredible talent and complete baseball instinct. He is a player for the people, not exclusively for New York City, and I, for one, enjoyed watching him, game after game.

I agree, mikey. Jeter is not only an exemplary player, but also an outstanding human being. He is the consummate team player and a great example of how a professional athlete should conduct himself. At least you have him for another year and without the distraction of A-Rod. Derek is a definite first-year eligible Hall of Famer!! If I know you, you are already lining up tickets for the Yank's last home game - (and I don't mean the bleachers) - lol!!! (Do they even have bleachers at the new House That Ruth Built?)

Actually Stowie, as you know I have a "connection" for great Yankee tickets, but unfortunately he is not high enough on the "food chain" to get me tickets for Derek's final regular season home game. But I will be going to two games, sitting close to the field twice this season, so I will wish my personal farewell to Derek probably in August.

And yes they do still have bleachers at the new Stadium. It is configured very much as the old stadiums were. Bleacher seats are now priced $18-$23, which is remarkably cheap considering field level seats are priced at $175-$300. As you know, I am "Mr. Information" when it comes to the Yankees and BSB1.

I'm not a big sports guy.I guess I am what they call a Fair weather fan.If it the 49ers or Giants ...I watch.
But .. Derick Jeter has always been cute and sexy. And Hot. I always followed him.....

And also you never know what the future might hold; things could break your way and still get to see his last game. Stranger things have happened.

What was the price when you were a kid? I can remember going to the Orioles game at Memorial Stadium as a kid and the bleachers were 25 cents.

I agree Jeter is one of the best. I've been a non aggressive Yankee fan my whole life its a family thing. I remember meeting Mickey Mantle when I was a kid . My father had connections that made it natural to meet him. Wish I could meet Jeter under those circumstances too.
