Stowe,
I posted here as a courtesy. I have no obligation to explain our business practices to you, but unlike any other gay pay site on the internet we try to have as “open of a door” policy as possible.
As to this particular solo, it isn’t being released because it isn’t worthy of taking up an “update” slot in our schedule. Danny was paid for the solo but he was extremely nervous and the scene in the end did not come off successfully… it’s not worth putting our logo on the film and putting it out on the internet. It’s just one of those things and we don’t think it supports our brand. We shot 2 other scenes with Danny and those are very good and I know members will enjoy them.
The truth of the matter is that it doesn’t matter what or how much I say, there will never seem to be enough to satisfy you. This is one of the few (if not the only) porn membership sites that even have a forum and it is times like these that I completely understand why. Although the forum on
Broke Straight Boys can be a challenge for us, I also see the benefit of it as it makes our site more unique. More importantly it allows us the get to know our members. You see, we do care about what members want, as there is no other direct benefit to have the forums. I read just about every single post in these forums not because I am at a loss for things to do but because I want to hear feedback on how we can improve.
As you can imagine, it is rather confusing at times. An example when you complained ad nauseam about “letting the inmates run the asylum”. We made the mistake of listening to the rather squeaky wheel and made the change to show that we indeed did give direction and that the guys weren’t running anything. I should have just explained that the scenes are blocked out and discussed off camera in advance just like every other studio does. Of course, that experiment to try and appease you (and you alone) was an epic fail. In future filming, which will start again in the next couple of weeks, I will once again do the direction of the scene off camera as it has always been done and as it is done for every other studio.
You may not realize but these scenes are filmed in batches well in advance. We try to keep films “in the can” in case we run into unforeseen circumstances (such as the time when the director Johnnie got very sick). So just because an update gets a lot of comments asking for something doesn’t mean that the next update can implement those solutions. We have filming “weeks” where we will film up to 20 scenes in 7 days. So scenes may have been pre filmed before suggestions can be implemented. It should also be noted that every single request can’t be met because just as you may hate something we do, others may love it.
Are our members important to us? Of course they are. Do we want to get feedback from our members? Of course we do. I will say though that the constant analysis of staff and their decisions as well as wanting to know every single inner working of our company tends to get mundane. I am not trying to attack you with this message and quite frankly I am hesitant to even reply, but I will because I care enough to take the time to do so and I have sat back far too long and read nit pick after nit pick.
The bottom line is we will never be perfect for everyone, we will sometimes make mistakes and we will never be able to divulge each and every detail of the decisions that are made in our company, but my hope is that we learn from our mistakes and continue to strive to make this site a place that people can come and enjoy their time here.
I didn’t have to tell you why there wasn’t a Danny solo. If you were on a competitor’s site, they certainly wouldn’t. We have several thousand active members on
Broke Straight Boys, but only a very small handful of people that even bother to read these forums. We want to hear from you, but this business is driven by metrics that are easily trackable. Although, I love hearing what models you all like when you start threads on them… The fact is we get about a dozen opinions on the forum that are given too much weight. Because we have given you a pulpit, we in turn listen to you. I have made the mistake several times now of listening to the vocal few to manage the masses. Going forward, we really should start listening more to the thousands of data points recorded every single day and take your personal instructions and opinions with a very large grain of salt.
Running a business such as this is not necessarily a bed of roses, as there are many obstacles each and every day, but I would think over the past 4 years of your membership you have seen a team here that certainly cares about what they do.
