Even though many of us might have a blank rating when we view the vids at midnight EST (or even when we have a blank slate several minutes after the video is released) votes are already coming in as we watch. More than likely if you had refreshed the page before casting your vote you would have found that the slate was no longer empty on the ratings.

It's also true that sometimes people, for their own reasons, vote in the ratings before watching the video or without even watching the video. Others may sometimes fast forward through some of it and finish before the real time length of the video. So in both of those possible situations someone may cast a rating's vote after viewing only the still photos, while others who do watch it will vote after 15 minutes of what might be a 20 minute video.

So if you refresh the page after you've watched the vid and before casting your vote, you'll get a much better idea of the real current tally.
