okay, I have thought long, and hard on this, and I want to get a poll started about the possibility of a future cruise with, NOT EXCLUSIVE OF/NOR SPONSORED BY Broke Straight Boys/Members/Models/Staff, but also including their families/friends, etc:

1. Any interest in the 'possibility' of a Broke Straight Boys/Forum Cruise?
A. Yes
B. No

2. If interested, where should the cruise leabe from?
A. Florida
B. Texas
C. California

3. What would the ideal cruise length be, so that it can fit into your budget?
A. 3 days/2 nights
B. 4 days/3 nights
C. 5 days/4 nights

4. Keeping in mind #3, what is the amount/pp you would be willing to pay?
A. $300pp
B. $400pp
C. $500pp
D. more than $500/pp

5. What time of year would be best for you?
A. Jan-Mar
B. Apr-June
C. Jul- Sept
D. Oct-Dec

6. FOR THOSE THAT WOULD BE TRAVELLING ALONE, (like myself): Would you be willing to share a cabin, with a person of the same sex? This would be beneficial in that, it will help to reduce the cost of your cabin. It is not always offered on all cruises, however, would you be interested?

HOPEFULLY something can/will come of this, if enough interest is shown?

While I love the idea of a meet and greet, I'm not wild about the idea of a cruise. So, it's hard to answer the questions as they are with that in mind. Maybe there is some other idea that could spring from this... maybe something centered around a Pride festival somewhere the brokies are going to be???

Thank you for your honesty, Love, I appreciate that!!

Dearest Bob,

In response to your questionnaire:

1. A Yes

2. B Texas (more centrally located)

3. B 4 days/3 nights (I'm flexible)

4. D more than $500/pp (I'm flexible)

5. B Apr/June (I'm flexible)

6. I would definitely be traveling alone and I would be willing to share a cabin with another guy and I would need a "Handicapped Cabin".

I agree with Laura, that a cruise would not be something I could do, but the idea of being on a ship with some of our straighties, has a lot of appeal.

I would love to meet all my favorite forumites.:001_smile:

I think this is a great idea. It would be a fun way to meet each other. Cruising is one of the best deals you can have. Where else can you go have room, all you can eat, entertainment, and visit different places for under $100 a day and in many cases under $75-80 per day? It is the best deal in town.

For all the questions I am fully flexible. I am a frequent cruises (as are David and Eddie) and as you know Dennybear and I were starting to plan one, well then all hell broke loose and the plans dies.

I am glad that SGVBOB has decided to give it another spin. Yes, I did provide him with some suggestions.

If you have never tried one, here is a great opportunity. If you don't like the crowd, there are places and others to meet on the ship. There are over 2,000 members here, so everyone, lets hear from you, including your majesty and our distinguished friends from overseas. We always have room for you, including the British.

We are all ears!!!!!!

I love the whole cruise idea. What I like most about it it the opportunity to relax among friends and not have to type to communicate. LOL:wink: Anyway, I think as long as it is afordable and people have time to plan and save it can be a great thing. Many employers require 6mos. to a years advanced notice of vacation these days. Often when people start new jobs they are banned from taking any leave of absense for their first three months up to a year sometimes. Also, the cruise lines often offer great rates to large groups. So, it ha spotential to be a win, win, if it is planned with enough time in mind.

I love the idea, I don't know that I would love the reality. I say that because I have been on a cruise from Texas to Cozumel, in June, and it sucked! Big time! The heat was unbearable on deck. With nothing to shade a ship on the open and warmer waters, walking around the decks is like walking through an open oven.

I have no facts to support this, but it seems that many in the forums (posters anyway) are middle aged and older. Older folks for the most part do not do well in the heat, and my guess is that most are on medications, which also probably limit sun exposure.

All that being said, a cruise in tropical waters would probably be great, in the colder months of the year. A New Year's cruise would probably be outstanding! Also, there are great cruises to Alaska during the summer months. Just things to think about.
What say Stimpy? You think Aura Glow would hold up in the heat?

Having taken many cruise I fully understand where you are coming from. But cruising in the early spring and fall season the weather is milder as is winter. That is why Bob ask what time of year is best.

As for Alaska, that is a great cruise to take, and cold can be more of an issue, even in summer. The big draw to cruising Alaska is that there are no short cruises and they are far more expensive that in the Gulf/Atlantic.

I would decline the cruise idea. Sea legs, I do not have.

I like the idea and will do it anytime of year and from any port. I just need time to plan and save. I really hope this happens.

J, I am in agreement w/ you about the hesitation, believe it or not! I went on a FUN cruise(no name dropping), (I guess this is where I interject, I am a BIG caffeinoholic, aka Diet Pepsi), however when I got onboard this cruise line's ship, for a 5 day cruise, I NEVER was forewarned that sodas, (IN A CAN), costed upwards of $2/CAN!!! So me, being the cheapskate I am, (self-admittedly!), suffered the entire cruise w/ caffeine withdrawl headaches, YES, they DO exist!! I was LATER, (after the fact), told about 'fountain cards' that the kids, (normally) can purchase, and it gives them/that person UNLIMITED soda beverages!

Just something to think about for the firs time potential cruisers, that do not drink alcoholic beverages, on a regular basis, like myself!!

Has anyone mentioned the Viking cruises that ply the waterways of Northern Europe? They even have "Gay" themed cruises that hit St. Petersburg in Russia, (The Hermitage Museum must be seen to be believed) and Denmark and other Scandinavian ports. I keep getting emails about them, but they say that there is only one in 2011, the rest will start back up in 2012, which might be a better target date, since this is already March.

The cruise idea sounded great a year ago. But I wouldn't do one now. I enjoyed the events of last year more than can be put into words and I am so happy with the people I met at those events, but I don't think I could handle a cruise. I will say that I am quite content with my get togethers with the various people I have met from the forum. And of coarse I can't wait for Southern Decadence 2011. JW and I are making it an annual thing because we had the time of our lives last September and I know that Lovelumps is joining us. Perhaps something can be put together to meet up there? Just an idea.

OK, well Miss Deirdra, I like that idea too! My husband Carl has raved about Southern Decadence for years. (He's from Florida by way of New Mexico) So, I'll pop the question and we'll see.
