what are the standards for a comment?
there are no posted standards anywhere.
sometimes comments are permitted to remain that are POLITICAL and actually impart a reasoned opinion
while sometimes POLITICAL comments disappear into the ether
sometimes SOCIALLY CONSCIOUS comments are allowed to remain while others are deemed too outrageous...

key point - post a statement of what you the owners of Broke Straight Boys consider acceptable as many of your members are reasonably intelligent and some even have advanced degrees....is your forum meant to be a place to share useful information and become educated or a narrow just make pablum-like silly ass comments that ultimate mean nothing....so post something clearly on your website as it would be helpful....

Arbitrary and Capricious standards are precisely what Human Rights and Civil Rights fights against because without a reasonable standard Broke Straight Boys would be tagged under Homeland Security a potentially terroristic website that recruits to a cause that endangers th American public - read all of your Homeland Security Act - it is a mofo of a catch when you fall on their radar.

I hate to be the one to explain this to you but this is a private website. The owners can act as they wish concerning it. They can be as you put it "arbitrary and capricious" since you have no "civil rights" here whatever you mean by that. If you think you have some free speech right here then go back and actually read the US Constitution as well as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of which most civilized countries are signatories [even if they ignore it in practice] applies to the actions of governments or the agents of governments. In other words each of us has the ability to limit the exercise of free expression of another so long as we do not do so through the use of violence or threat of violence. Just as I can toss you out of my house or eject you out of my place of business for saying something I disagree with, the owners of this website have the same right to limit your ability to post, to remove your posts or to censor what you post.

You are of course 100% correct Juanjo, and being a lawyer, you obviously know of what you speak. But KRU should also be aware that Mark told him to stop posting political and other issues on the membership side of the forum, and eventually Mark told KRU that he will just delete any posts of this on this side of the forum that belong on the General Chat side. So any deleted posts of his may have nothing to do with censorship at all.

You guys really hit the nail on the head here. Thank you. Again Kru has posted this thread on the only side of the forum that he posts everything, (political, religious, or whatever) whether the issue is related to the site or not.

Juanjo's post reminds me of the situation with Nobelegg from a legal standpoint. Nobel figured that because he had freedom of speech under the Constitution that that meant in a private chat room he still had the right to say whatever inflammatory things he wanted to. He smugly decided that no matter how offensive he might get, that everyone else would just have to put up with it without any recourse. He found out he was wrong. haha

The thread is still here. ha ha
LOL Jon. My first thought last night was also that this thread was another example of being in the wrong place. But since the topic is the Broke Straight Boys forum itself, I guess it does qualify being placed in the site related section. Mark apparently decided the same thing.

I know that I used to be bothered by the "policing of threads"! But, I realize now "It's a tough job but, someone has to do it" LOL. When threads are started or posted in the wrong area, it screws up the search for a topic of discussion (for one thing)! I tend to follow threads and remember if I saw something, I would have no idea where to look for it! If it's about the scene, I should look in the member's section, if it's about something say....political, I would or should be able to go to the general section and find it!

I find it very irritating when someone posts a general thread in the membership area and I really appreciate it when Mark removes it. There are stickys showing the guidelines for posting. It doesn't take a mental genius to figure out the difference between a general comment and a membership comment and if you do lack the capacity for understanding then perhaps you shouldn't be posting at all? I also think the site managers give us much much more leeway on here than many other forums offer. I think they are very fair and democratic and do an exemplary job at monitoring and getting involved. I don't think they are ever malicious or mean spirited which must take a great deal of patience and understanding at times.

I think I'll stay out of this discussion. I've been watching too many shark movies this week and my brain is fried. Instead of thinking, I will go back and stare at Tyler's butt for a while.

I told you all before, but you all scorned at me... LOL
Vindication at last for the original "forum thread policeman"!!!

I have to say that staring at Tyler's hot little butt is a more worthwhile endeavor.

I can't think of anything else I'd rather do to while away an afternoon. LOL Staring at Tyler's cute little butt... Yeah.

Well my life is completely drama and stress free so I have this forum for controversy to balance out!! lol

And as a result..you will probably out live many of us!!!!!

KRU does add controversy and although most of his posts are pie in the sky, the one makes sense. Albeit in the wrong part of the site.
