Since not all the forumites have Twitter accounts I would like to pass on this latest tweet from Brody Lasko, "I would like to apopogize for whomever I insulted in my latest scene with Dakota."

It's actually sad for me that he feels the need to apologize. It's not like these guys have professional publicists who can coach them on just the right things to say all the time to help control or manipulate their "image". Many of us say we like that this is a reality site. So if that's the case we are not always going to get sanitized remarks that drip of sugary sweetness. Life is not that way. He was keeping it real and speaking from where he was at at that moment in time. Brody is probably getting a lot of grief at home by people who are calling him gay for doing video work here. His passion and sometimes anger in what he said was probably not directed specifically at the gay Broke Straight Boys audience anyway. I felt it was just his level of frustration, fear and anger at the situation he find himself in socially in his real life.

It was unsettling at times. But I didn't take offense to it. He certainly owes me no apology. I didn't think he was being homophobic at all. While he may have been responding to some insulting posts on social media, as I say, I think he was responding more to possible backlash at home.

Brody... You're a good guy. I'm sorry if you are getting grief back home or online for doing the video work. No need to apologize (to me at least) for honestly speaking your mind. xo :001_smile:

So many of the points you've made here entered my thoughts as well Tampa.

This isn't the first time a model on this site has reacted to many different things through comments which may have given their audiences cause to speculate. Some models gain popularity through social media. Some, we are only aware of the feedback through the comments made either on the scene comment page or through comments on the forum. There is a time when the models are not filming or being advertised where, the comments may be coming from peers at home. Let's not forget about the fans who may approach models who, because of their work, feel that they can approach them as if they are the same person doing the same things off screen as they do on screen? (Not unlike actors and actresses who may play particular characters, and fans associate that as being who they really are.) It's different for each but, I would think there are times when the "BrokeStraighBoys" persona may be challenged by fans and friends of the models. Everyone reacts differently to their own situation.

I certainly have nothing judgmental to offer for Brody's comments or apology. I just hope he continues to grow as a model and person, learning what he can and moving forward. That's how we grow! Stay your course Brody!

Very well put by both of you. I always wish I could write like you both. But isn't it also a matter of choice?
If you put yourself out there today. Once you are out there there is no place to hide. But it is his choice. If you don't want people to know.Don't tweet it.
Don't put yourself on Facebook. He owes me no apology. But if you want the fame you gotta play the
game. No one forced Brody to go into the porn business. It was and is his choice. Enjoy it. Or get into another profession.
He is very young. It is not to late. But if you don't like it don't bitch. It was his choice.
Just my opinion. And I may be way off. And sound foolish to allot of people.
But one of the things we do have left is the right to chose a profession. Maybe not what we want. But we still have that choice.

Completely agree Johnny, important points well expressed, thank you.

It is not so much a matter of an apology. I would just prefer that there be no repeat. We have now had two models who felt it necessary to declare how straight they are. My question is who is directing this? Who is guiding these guys. Surely they must have enough sense to know why people subscribe to the site. But, again, maybe they don't. I really like Brody and want him to stay as long as he is comfortable doing so, but if it is going to cause him grief maybe he really should consider moving on.

Absolutely spot on AG. A few members are getting pissed off with the same introduction at each scene, it's like forcing a kid to eat greens.

Brody is far from my favorite model, but I've got to say that he is caught up in a "damned if you do and damned if you don't" situation. From watching this model from Day 1, he seems so eager to succeed, apparently following his director's instructions and going about performing in his scenes with enthusiasm and skill. I don't see him as going renegade in any way, and I believe that he was following the script when he proclaimed his heterosexuality the way he did. But then when he read the negative feedback here and on the scene page, trying to remain the "good kid", trying to please both his employer and his fans, he thought that an apology would be appropriate.

To my way of thinking, this is a fantasy site, based in a reality format, and I try to take very little seriosuly, especially when the models go the extra mile by communicating with the fans on these boards or on social media. I don't believe that they get paid a hell of a lot of money for their work here. Mark recently told us that with the proliferation of free "tube sites", he has had to reduce the pay scale for his models, so my feeling is to give the kid a break and let him try to earn as much as he can while still the flavor of the month on Broke Straight Boys, as shelf life can be brief in this industry.

Honestly I could care less if a model in real life lives with his boyfriend and is a total 100% nelly bottom queen. As long as when he comes to work here he's masculine acting and does good porn. There are models who are obviously gay (you can't fool us boys), but for the most part the majority of the models have natural masculinity and that makes for good Broke Straight Boys porn for me.

I personally did not take offense to his comments. They were no worse than when Lucas was reluctant to fuck another guy saying that it was just so gay.

I say his actions speak louder than his words. How many times has he undressed and has a boner already? Enough said.

You are so right Louis. The hard cock says a lot more than some words intended to turn on the fans of straight boys having gay sex, (like me), and I agree about Lucas. Perhaps Lucas was more of a "method actor" than Brody, but Lucas's words came across as mean-spirited as he appeared disgusted by the mere thought of gay sex, and he said those words and made those faces in the body of his sex scenes, whereas Brody did his talking in the pre-sex banter portion, and was matter of fact, just stating that what he does on his job is not what he does in his real life. Again, chances are both Brody and Lucas were saying what they thought was expected of them, but I took zero offense to Brody's words at all.

I personally think the interviews take way to long and are incredibly awkward to watch. I rather have a model talk after the scene is over and let us know what they thought about the scene.

I agree with your post of course Johnny.

The only distinction I would make is that when models sign up here knowing some of the potential pitfalls, in the beginning at least, all those negative consequences are merely hypotheticals. The models figure that "I can handle that." Or the, "I'll cross that bridge when I come to it." When the hypothetical becomes reality it can be a very tough adjustment I'm sure.

Keeping in mind that some of these guys are very young, when the shit starts hitting the fan and some of the more negative consequences are upon them, it's not so unexpected that some of them will not tolerate the drama very well. Some models will become scared, angry and defensive. I can give them a pass on it.

Again though, like you say Johnny, if they really want to stay in the business (to make the money) they need to work on coping and developing a thicker skin.

Of course I agree with you too. Funny I think about this forum (maybe) a little to much. Even at the gym, work, etc.
Think of this..If your just a regular straight kid. Even though kids are much more open and excepting these day's.Than when I was a kid. I came out when things were just starting to change. Lucky to be in San Francisco never had a problem. But if you were that straight kid. And another buddy said..Look what I found. And it was a video of another of your straight buddies sitting on a dick while maybe sucking on another.
What would you think?
I can give them a pass too. Would hate to see any harm or hurt come to anyone. But after a scene or two. Like you said best work on developing a thicker skin.
Cause you would be different in allot of peoples eyes.
Be it right or wrong. Most people would think you are gay. Most people don't know what Broke Straight Boys means.

Not everyone is lucky to have a family like Paul or my own. But don't complain about being hit on by gay men when your putting your ass out there for everyone to see. So if your going to do it. Be the best you can. Saying you don't like doing it takes some of the fun out of it.
Never been so scared to press submit. But what the hell I have made allot of silly posts.

Well if I was the kid doing the porn and they called me out on it, I would flip it around and tell them the only way they would know I was doing gay porn is they themselves are searching and watching gay porn!! Now everyones at least Bi !!! Most people who pick on others and focus on others faults and not their own, usually are way more troubled then the one their picking on. Bully's are insecure little boys that are friendless, loveless and heartless....
