I've been with this site for a short time compared to those with "Elite" and "Senior" status. I came here as my final stop during the beginning part of BSB3 as it is sometimes referenced by a few. I am still enjoying my Broke Straight Boys experience!

I was awed recently by Decylyn's comment post about her first few months as a new member to the site. I too like to go back and view the older scenes and gain a better understanding of what was the Old Broke Straight Boys for many. From watching the progressing, enjoying the "formula" and David, the director of the scenes at the time. Appreciation of the different models' personalities, the experiences and all that was. When I read long time members' comments, I can hear the longing for "the way things use" to be loud and clear. A good number of members have even left, or have stopped sharing on the forum because the changes to "what they signed up for" since I've joined!

As much as I can appreciate how the Broke Straight Boys site, and all it had/has to offer, sustained many members of longstanding, I cannot fully relate to their experience! I wasn't here to watch the scenes unfold with every newly released episode or the introduction of new models and all of the nuances that came with that experience.

I don't know that many new members will be able to relate fully to that experience. I can only appreciate, what must be at times, frustrating to some of the longtime members, as they must deal with this challenge of changes; over which they have no control.

Thank you Betu for your very honest, non-judgmental perception of what it is like for those of us who've been here throughout the twists and turns of Broke Straight Boys and the Broke Straight Boys forum. You are very perceptive of how some of us "old timers" feel when you say,

"As much as I can appreciate how the Broke Straight Boys site, and all it had/has to offer, sustained many members of longstanding, I cannot fully relate to their experience! Indeed as the episodes unfolded, and we didn't know what to expect out of some models it was so much more than a gay porn sex video that we were watching. We had a clue from the scene write ups and the stills of what would happen, but watching Mike Robbins finally try bottoming after much pressure from the forum and from David was riveting drama as he tried but called a halt to the proceedings shortly after it began. Watching that happen was a very real piece of reality drama unfolding before my eyes.

Sometimes we would discover that a Tyler is an incredible "sexual animal" in the heat of sex, while being rather placid in non-sexual situations, or we discovered that CJ, a very handsome, masculine straight guy preferred to bottom and become the "go to" bottom boy during his era. I could go on and on about Dustin, Ashton, my "Tank" Shane, (sorry Peter :001_tongue: ), Logan, Alden & Robert, Kyler & Zakk, the very first Broke Straight Boys scene with Alex & military boy Chris, even gay boy Cousin Mikey who was adorable, and countless other sagas which made Broke Straight Boys so much more than a gay porn site to me.

But you had to be there, living though the tri weekly updates hoping for a new scene in the upcoming list, perhaps with one one of our favorite boys, maybe someone who we are dying to see what a few extra $100's out of David's hands could make them do this week.

At this point I have no idea what my future plans are regarding Broke Straight Boys, but for now, I am not leaving and I appreciate having interesting new members of the forum, who seem to care about the site in the same ways as many of us "old timers" feel. You and I Betu have very different types of models and sexual acts that "get us off", but I can see we share a commitment to Broke Straight Boys as fans, and I appreciate having you as a fellow forumite with me here in the present.

Dear Betu,

As another :old: timer on Broke Straight Boys, I can relate my earlier experiences with the unfolding reality of the latest episodes as a life altering experience that made me happy to be :gay: and finally have me prurient needs attended to, where I did not have to hold back my thoughts or opinions. Replaying archived episodes from BSB1 is almost as nostalgic as I would imagine attending a "high school reunion" could have possibly been(had I ever attended one).:sign0020:

That is why I am so put off by episodes starting without any interviewing of the models performing. Having that "inside dope" just guaranteed me that I was more personally involved with what was happening in their life and could readily care for them more as the real people they were in fact. I never needed to objectify then to enjoy their performance like someone posing in some "dirty magazine". Please don't be offended if objectification is essential element for you. That was not intended to be a put-down coming from me aimed to any forumite. I am glad to see you interact with Mikeyank as well. He is a most honorable forumite and a kind-hearted person.

Although I am also one of those who long for the good-old-days of Broke Straight Boys-1, reality has taught me that those exalted days were definitely not perfect and we had a succession of certain models that were overexposed at the time and some liked it while others objected at the time. It seems never will it come a time when everyone is satisfied with the way things are going in any enterprise.

Good luck to you and I am most appreciative of having such an introspective person as you on the forum at this time! Keep up the good work!:thankyou:

Sincerely,

Stimpy

Agree completely with Stimpy and Mikeyank (except his reference to Tank Shane being his) the excitement of seeing a boys graduation from jerk-off scene to handjob/blowjob scene to topping and maybe bottoming. But I have to be honest, I love porn and have a handful of models from the last year that I adore, so to seem them in any scene "rough, passionate, bareback, condom or threeway is a plus for me. I miss the old process, but I can go back and watch the old scenes with David and smile. He is what made the "old way" work!! Not sure if Clay has the personality to pull that off, but he does the current scenes okay.

Well damn, after reading all of your insights on the changes at Broke Straight Boys, the "new" cameraman Clay, the divergent feelings about "how straight" the guys seemed, what sexual preferences were liked and equally disliked, the titillation of getting the "inside scoop" as to who the models really are, the fiery banter on the forum, the "cumming" and going of models, forumites and even the "extra" appeal of Flirt4Free, can I just say that....
I love to see dicks and masturbate....shit, I guess I'm not as "deep" as you guys; sorry....:laidback:

It may surprise you how I came to this realization!
I have seen episodes (or parts of episodes) of a show on Animal Planet called "Meerkat Manor." Over the past seven or so years, I have heard the name, "Flower" who is the dominant female MeerKat leading a group called the "Whiskers." One day, I woke up to the show at a point where Flower was killed! I then started taping the show so that I could see it from the beginning episodes, to gain a better understanding of what I was missing and how and why Flower got killed!

It made me realize that, when I go back through the older episodes of Broke Straight Boys, I can skip through or watch certain scenes, focus on certain models etc. While I can "play it backwards" so to speak, the real experience and excitement is not the same as "playing it forward". As mikeyank points out, the anticipation and not knowing what you're going to get, really ads to the experience. Presently, models are introduced and it may be a while before you see them in scenes again. Scenes are not released in sequence (this is not an attack just a point) and therefor, it's not the same as watching the models progress in the same way the experience was before the "evolution" .

So, yes the experience is totally different for new comers (myself) than it would have been. I am glad to have realized this now!

It's interesting that I also thought of a television series reference when I first read your post, Betu. I didn't watch The Sopranos until the final few seasons, and became a fan of the show, but when other people who were there from the beginning would tell me that the best seasons were the early ones with the introduction of the characters. But when I went back to watch the reruns of the early years, I didn't have the same experience as they did, as I knew how the characters developed over the years, and it wasn't the same for me as it would have been watching the new scenes as they were released, where no one in the audience knew exactly where it was all going.

It's funny you should mention the show Meerkat Manor. I became hooked on it too, back in the day. LOL

Thank you, Betu. I have to say that it's very gratifying to see you recognize the value in what we've been saying even if you don't specifically relate to it. I think it's also very insightful of you to appreciate how difficult it is to completely understand that experience without having 'lived' through it yourself. Personally, I find it very refreshing to see someone actually make an attempt to understand and perhaps empathize rather than saying "just get over it."

I have to say that I don't dislike all (or even most) of the changes to Broke Straight Boys over the years. I think Clay, Sha and the models have all worked very hard to make improvements to the site over time. I don't sit around pining for the way things 'used to be.' I do, however, get a bit frustrated when we 'old-timers' get flamed being honest about what we like or requesting to see some of it again. With three updates per week, I don't see a reason why we can't all have a little bit of what we like. Not everything will appeal to everyone, but everything will appeal to SOMEONE - and it seems to me that that should be okay to everyone.

Thanks again for your insightful remarks.
