Hey Guys and Gals,

I don't know how many of you might have caught this story on CNN or the Daily Show. But it's at once amusing, comical, infuriating and a little sad all the same time. Note that the assistant was hired to help him with his luggage. And the only photo of them released in the media shows George Rekers at the airport handling all the luggage himself. haha

As a quick side note... Florida is the only state in the Union where adoption of children by gays is specifically illegal.

Wow, Tampa way to spice things up on the Forum.

Just by the legislation alone Florida has made GLBT citizens second class. They have labeled us all as sexual deviants and child molesters. The truth is that the majority of child molesters out there are closet cases that cannot admit their love for people of the same sex. There deep seeded frustration causes them to seek out those who would be too weak or non credible to seduce and have their way. :scared:

It is nice to know that the Florida legal system has over a hundred thousand dollars to spend on a well credentialed professional that persecute GLBT people where ever he goes. I wonder why they could not have just contacted a several major universities and asked for factual studies to present before committee. Oh, never mind that would have only cost them about $5,000.00 and their may have been a different outcome...:sneaky2:

I am wondering why the ACLU is holding back. I guess until GLBT citizens are made equal under the constitution it would be a mute point. Florida is certainly a wonderful, magical, and yet strange place to live with laws that have pretty much indicated GLBT citizens as deviants and child molesters. Welcome to Disneyland folks... :sneaky2:
 
Some of the most virulent gay-bashers are gay themselves. They are usually gays who develop a hatred for themselves because of their orientation and transfer this hatred to all GLBT people. They may try to find accommodation with straights by "converting" to religion and rehabilitate themselves by some sort of exorcism of their orientation. They flaunt this rehabilitation as a cure for homosexuality and preach the process like gospel truth. It took me years - way into my adult years - to accept myself for who I am and feel comfortable about being gay. I tend to be prejudicial against certain types of gay people like effeminate men, transgender, transvestites and lesbians. At least I know I have this tendency and I'm working on recovering from it. Unfortunately most gay-bashers aren't aware of their prejudice and couldn't care to address it.

Well, there are many things I like about the state. lol It is a very red state though. In spite of this fact it did go blue for Obama in 2008. YAY! The courts and state legislature are all dominated by Republicans.

I just found out yesterday the the Republican National Convention for the 2012 presidential race will be held in.......Tampa. Rah :bored:

Some of the links earlier in this thread from 2010 will longer work. I came across this article today about some of the harm George Rekers has done to the gay community and how he has profited from it. Here's a very serious and sad Anderson Cooper interview where he covers some of Rekers' "research" into homosexuality and how he devised and authored therapies to turn gay or gay acting people straight or at least straight-acting. As soon as they mentioned his name, I knew immediately knew and remembered the sleazy profiteer they were talking about.
