A Musical Tribute to Jared Leto

I have recently watched the movie "Dallas Buyers Club" with Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto. It was a rather dark movie of course because it dealt with AIDS. The performances of both guys was just great though. McConaughey won an Oscar this year for Best Actor. Jared Leto won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. Leto played a riveting transsexual male to female woman afflicted with and dying of AIDS.

Both actors lost tons of weight in order to look like skeletal, emaciated people with a fatal illness. Leto said he dropped to about 114 lbs. McConaughey lost over 34 lbs to drop within the 120 lb range and below.

Here is a clip of Jared's acceptance speech for Best Supporting Actor. This one was the best video quality one I could find on Youtube. It also includes the Best Supporting Actress speech of Lupita Nyoung'o for her role in "12 Years a Slave".

At 3:26 begins Leto's acceptance speech. Before he goes up to the stage he hugs his mom, his brother and bandmate Shannon Leto and also Matthew McConaughey.

Now for the musical part. lol This is a hybrid movie/documentary/music video featuring a great song by Leto's rock band "Thirty Seconds to Mars".

I have been a fan of 30 Seconds From Mars for a while now and I love all their films. My favorite is Up In The Air.
Here is a bit of info not everyone knows. Their films are directed by Bartholomew Cubbins. Bartholomew Cubbins is a character from a number of Dr. Seuss books. (The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins) Bartholomew Cubbins is also the alter-ego of Jared Leto... yes he directed their films..... very talented young man... not to mention really nice to look at.

I saw that Leto directed the City of Angels song. But I had no idea that he directed his most or all of his own music videos personally. What a lot of talent for one person. A successful musician and lead singer, a talented director.... Then after taking a 6 year leave from acting, he comes back to make one film and wins an Oscar for it. Amazing!

And yes. He's not bad on the eyes either. lol
